Today, CQ Medical has offices located in Orange City, Iowa; Coralville, Iowa; Avondale, Pennsylvania; India, Singapore and London, with approximately 300 employees located across the U.S., Europe, and Asia.

Company History

In 1982, Paul Korver founded Medtec, Inc. in Dallas, Texas, and opened a facility the next year to perform general machining. He was the sole employee of the company, doing all the designing and machining himself, making various products for several nuclear physicists. Then, in 1984, Paul started developing products for radiation therapy and continued to be the only employee until 1985. In 1989, Medtec opened a facility in Orange City, Iowa with three employees. A few years later, the company grew to 13 employees and in 1996, Paul and Anita Korver retired, selling the business to Clayton and Deb Korver. Successes continued, and the team grew rapidly over the next 8 years, reaching 95 employees.

In December of 2005, Medtec, Inc. was purchased by Roper Technologies to expand their medical segment to include radiation oncology products that enhance cancer treatment outcomes through improved patient positioning and products designed to target tumor elimination. Their legal name continued to be Medtec, Inc., but began doing business as CIVCO Radiotherapy.

In May 2006, the company’s radiation oncology product line was expanded through the acquisition of SINMED, BV located in The Netherlands to add additional global market presence.

In October 2021, Blue Wolf Capital Partners, a New York-based private equity firm, announced it acquired CIVCO Radiotherapy from Roper Technologies. Then, in October 2022, CIVCO Radiotherapy announced it was joining forces with Qfix Systems LLC, and in 2023 CQ Medical was born.

Qfix was founded in 2001 as a joint venture with the goal to better develop complete radiotherapy solutions. With expertise from Anholt Technologies (founded in 1990 by Dan Coppens) and the invention of proprietary Aquaplast™ RT thermoplastic material (1970), the two companies were a perfect match of material science and composite material.
